One idea, every platform: how to repurpose content with AI in your own voice

A repeatable way to turn one article, link or transcript into a thread, a newsletter blurb and standalone posts that still sound like you.

Writing separately for every platform is the fastest way to burn out. The better approach is to write one thing well and repurpose it. AI makes that quick, but only if the output still sounds like you.

Why AI repurposing often sounds generic

Ask an assistant to "turn this into a thread" and you get the same polite, slightly flat tone everyone else gets. The fix is not a cleverer prompt. It is a voice guide: a short document that shows the assistant how you actually write.

Build a voice guide

Keep it to one page:

  • Three to five of your best posts, pasted in as examples.
  • Words and phrases you use, and a few you never would.
  • Structure habits: short paragraphs, one-line hooks, questions at the end, or none of those.
  • Hard rules: no emojis, no hashtags, no clickbait, whatever applies to you.

Examples teach tone better than adjectives. "Friendly but direct" means little; three real posts mean a lot.

From one source to a week of posts

  1. Pick a source: an article, a link or a transcript.
  2. Find the angles: most sources contain three to five distinct ideas.
  3. Write a hook first. Everything else follows from a good first line.
  4. Draft per platform: a thread, a newsletter blurb and a few standalone posts.
  5. Edit for you: read each draft aloud, and cut anything you would never say.

Before and after

Source: a 1,500-word blog post about why most onboarding emails fail.

Output:

Hook: Your onboarding email isn't too long. It has no job. A seven-post thread, a 90-word newsletter blurb and four standalone posts, all in your voice.

Setting it up

  • Skill (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor): captures your voice once, then turns any source into a thread, a LinkedIn post, a newsletter section and a short video script.
  • Bot (Grok Bot): a weekly routine scouts what is working in your niche on X and drafts the week's pack. Nothing is posted without your approval.
  • Dot (ChatGPT dot): your dot keeps the content calendar full, turning each long piece you share into the week's drafts.

The official Content Factory Kit includes all three plus a playbook for the weekly rhythm, and works with X and Notion. Explore more on the Content page.

Guardrails

  • Never publish without reading it. You are the editor.
  • Do not let the assistant invent stats or quotes. Tell it to use only the source.
  • Refresh your voice guide every few months as your style changes.
